    Huh?

You started a new thread with an out-of-context quote from somewhere, and then you jumped to a conclusion that doesn't seem to be supported by the quote and ended with an "OT forsale message."

    Maybe you could start over…

Unfortunately, "Plyrman", you are right. Some people are to serious and insensitive. I use the EMU 1820 and love it. It is a pretty solid card for me and the price isn't to bad. Happy hunting.

For those who missed the leap, Plyrman is quoting ustudio,
in This Thread: Is there going to be a Sonar 5.3 or just 6 ?

(Still no idea what you're talking about though)

I have thought about the FW1082, because I really want a nice control surface, but I have seen a lot of people working out their problems with the Tascam stuff and I really don't have any problems right now. To quote someone much wiser than I, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," so I am passing on this unit. I am also very interested in the Tascam DM-3200, but there doesn't seem to be much info on how it gets along with Sonar and the price is prohibitive without lots of glowing accolades. My Echo Layla works great for the most part, and you might think about one if you're looking for a new audio interface, but it doesn't have a control surface. So I will keep on waiting and see if maybe anyone has success with the MAudio ProjectMix in a system configuration somewhat like mine.

I still say that any company who comes up with a combination Digital Mixer, Audio Interface, and Control Surface, with quality preamps, good eq and compression, top notch A/D converters, 24 channels or more(with inserts for outboard units), meter bridge, and shakes hands with Sonar, that I would beat a path to their door with my wallet open.

glazfolk: you are one of the lucky ones.... ;-)

jungfriend: you are correct in your statements....guess I should have know better than to get an "all in one unit"....some are good...just this one is suspect....don't get me wrong....I guess I just had something to compare it too on the "back end"......meaning I recorded a song with an M-Audio 410 before I got the Tascam...."it was a breeze"...(like my avatar)......now that I got the Tascam....well "the breeze died" I recoreded another song with the Tascam ..and it just wasn't as smooth as with the 410 and that was the only thing different....Some others may have fallen in love with the 1082...I just feel there is something as "smooth" as the 410 out here....but with more inputs and reasonably priced....like the "Firepod" from presonus...???

    Well Mike,
I had a Presonus Firepod that I sold because it didn't have any kind of mixer software or interface. I mean I really need to see I/O channel levels and routing, and there wasn't anyway to see them. It was a pretty good unit otherwise, but I can't say I really like the sound of the preamps. It has eight of them, but the two in the Echo Layla sound better to my ear. In fact I like the sound of the preamps in the Mackie 1604VLZ Pro better, but I am sure that is a matter of taste.

I feel the same way as you do about all-in-one units. Some part of the function is going to be weak because no company is good at everything (even Cakewalk though they really are trying). I do hope though that some foresighted company, like FrontierDesign, is going to realize the need for a really effective all-in-one unit and put it together with help from Sonar. They already have pretty good audio interfaces and the Tranzport has some of the best aspects of Control Surfaces down pat. Maybe we might even get a wireless all-in-one!!! Well I can dream, can't I?

Damn! Why don't they lower the price then? Or is it a matter of it being so new that they haven't got much of a demand and so are making a small run to see if it will float? The idea is good nonetheless and the price is really good if it works as advertised. My guess is that it doesn't since I haven't seen a lot of people singing it's praises.
