trouble recording...

everytime i try to record something through my line-in/mic-in the sound cuts off for a split second intermittently throughout the whole recording. its not the program becuz it does it in every program i tried, so im thinking its the sound card or some refresh problem or something to that effect...have you guys had this problem before? i really need help fast

    It does sound like the sound card is the problem. Also make sure that the microphone/mixer/instrument that you are recording is not the source of the problem.
