Looking for an amp sim with 2 inputs

Hi.
I've been looking at the Korg Ampworks as a handy little device for practising using headphones and no amp, and also for recording purposes. I've seen it for around £40 (in the UK), so it's easy on the budget too. I'm not sure if it will be good enough to justify getting rid of my Digitech RP-10 rack but It's much more handy and 'll see about that when I've got used to it.

The only thing I'm not so sure about is the inputs. Ideally I would like to be able to plug my mp3 player into it aswell so I can play along to songs with the minimum of kit required.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of combining the mp3 player with the guitar input on this device without having to resort to using my mixer, or if not is there another (cheap) device that has 2 inputs?

Your advice is appreciated!

Thanks,
Syd.

Cheers,
Syd

With 2 inputs (one for MP3), you'd also need 2 separate simulators on the Korg. I don't know if it does that, but you don't want the MP3 amp-simulated as well, I'm assuming.

No that's true of course, I hadn't thought of that.
If I combined both into one input I could only play clean. It would have to be on the output.

I suppose what I'm asking is if there is a device that will mix a modified guitar input with a clean input, preferably all in one unit. For example, I'm not sure what the Line6 devices are capable of.

Its not as cheap. But the Behringer V-Ampire combos and the V-Tone combos have . RCA stereo input with seperate input control . This doubles as a parallel return. It is basically good for any type of extra inputs. You may be able to pick up a 1x10 V-Tone combo for about $139.00 US.

Note that 1 of the 1X10 models without fx doesn't have the RCA feature. The combos w/fx do.

Looking into it a little more. I think the V-Amp2 would be just what your looking for. Once your familiar with it you'll find its a much better sounding piece anyways.

    Heres link..............http://www.behringer.com/V-AMP2/index.cfm?lang=ENG

The V-Amp 2 looks great, but there are two issues with that:

    • It's double the price
    • It doesn't run off batteries (as far as I can tell)

So, I've ordered the Korg. I thought I'd try using it with the MP3 player on little in-ear earphones with the guitar on larger headphones over the top (or the other way around). If that doesn't work I'll practise without backing but either way I think the Korg is the most appropriate being so small and battery powered. My DAW is a laptop so I like to keep things wireless where possible!

    Thanks for the advice!
    Syd.

I've got the AmpWorks bass model (about a year year old) and it doesn't have any extra ins on it. Just one guitar input.

I've also got a V-Amp2 and like the other feller says, it'll do what you want. Sounds great too. I'm not sure of the prices anymore but I think I paid around $130 for the V-Amp2 and about $100 for the Korg. But the V-Amp2 definately wasn't that much more. Maybe things have changed though.
