XLR Microphone Suggestions?

Hi guys, I returned my Samson USB condensor mic and am looking for any suggestions you guys can give me on a good XLR Microphone. My price range is probably around 100-150 dollars. I do a lot of screaming/singing so if there is an xlr mic that can withstand a lot of my screams that would be great. Thanks!

If you do a lot of screaming, you might just want to get a Shure SM58 would be my recommendation for your price range. Actually, I'm not sure I'd recommend anything else for your type of vocals at any price.

This is a dynamic mic and doesn't require phantom power (all mics will require a preamp, however - do you already have a preamp, or a mixer?). Dynamic mics are normally known for their use in live applications, but for a 'screaming' vocalist, I think this would be an excellent recording mic for you.

I second Beagle's suggestion for an SM58 ... or other good dynamic mike. If you're doing a lot of screaming, you don't want a condensor mike, it's too delicate.

As for getting from mike to PC .... well, the term "XLR" just refers to the connecting plug, sometimes called "Cannon". To connect the PC, you require either a Firewire or USB device like this (which doesn't require your PCs internal soundcard)

or, if you have a decent soundcard in your PC already, something like this:

All mics will need amplification from something. Mixers will have preamps built into them like the UB802 that Geoff mentioned will work good for you. A stand alone like the M-Audio Audio buddy will work, too, but mixers will always help later down the road, too for learning to monitor outside the sound card and for adding more instruments in if necessary (onto the same tracks, tho).
