What you want to do is fairly simple.
Just find the offending frequencies and notch them out with a parametric equalizer.

You can also use the dry mix control in your reverb to back off the dry some and use more verb to create precieved distance, don't worry about hearing it.. you will. There is almost nothing that will cause a hi hat to get lost in the mix, it's just rude.

the problem is that if i use reverb it won't sound clean and dry, because it is actually hi hats loop... :) and i hate when i hear the reverb :) it is such as nightmare :)
I wonder if there is a plugin that may cut off those painful fqs grrrrrrr... i am ready to buy everything that promise to resolve that ETERNAL problem for me! I wonder also when i will learn to mix the hi hats :) 4 years in a studio and still can't :) the stupid hats always presses the vocals am i stupid or stone - deaf...

Don't use far reflections in the reverb just the near one and use a gated reverb if you have one or use a gate plugin after the verb. If that doesn't work maybe you just need a different loop ?

    Hi there,
In my humble opinion, the best mixes for hi hats and cymbals are no effects at all. Try to play with the volume controls of these tracks as well as the panning. Your hihats may be too centered. Try panning to the right until you get a proper sound image. Hope this helps...

Oh, I also forgot: the problem may also be in the original recording. If nothing works, go back and see if they were recorded properly in the first place

someone already said this but you want a notch eq ("q" of say 2-3) and start around 3k and go up from there. my first guess is about 7k but not having heard the song i have no idea. unfortunately 7k is the "sizzle" range for cymbals so it might not sound as good solo'ed.

really though your vocal should be out front enough so the hat is put in its place. the hat does not need a lot of volume to come through, typically.
