ORIGINAL: zlittell hmmm i dont know if this is the right place but im do like rock, metal, metalcore, hardcore, death metal recordings and well i have a Intel p4 3.20ghz with 2gigs of Ram. i build computers and its been a while since ive been in the recording scene... just wanted to hear the limitations of my computer. Depends. How's it working right now? Seriously, that system should work just fine, but here's some tips: 1. Use a 2nd drive for all audio. 2. Don't use a built in sound card. Buy a dedicated pro-level card (M-Audio, RME, Edirol, Etc.) 3. If you build computers, you may want to set up a separate boot partition to use for a music-optimized boot. Good luck! Corey

Nah, that's a gamer card. A good card to start with is the audiophile 192, you get two balanced ins, two balanced outs, midi in and out and spdif in and out.

IMHO, that system doesn't have enough balls for metal/hardcore. Maybe enough for wimpy folk music, but for hardcore? No way. Build a new one.

I hate bouncing and freezing. Wastes too much time. If your going to more than a few audio tracks with some of the latest native DSP processors, I'd recommend going for more power. And there's a pretty good jump in power from the Intel Core 2 Duo just around the corner.

definently just pushed my ram to 2.77gb from 2gb running roughly 1256mg on on channel and 1512mb on the other channel which is awesome because it was free (well sorta it was payed for in the past just not now) but yeah when stuff like this happens it definently brightens your day because the constant money spending on equipment can bring you down... first the discount deal on upgrading harddrives and now almost an extra gig of ram... there really is a god and hopefully he will help me with my mixer today. well its close to bed time its 3:13am here and like i have to wake up at 9am to shower and goto guitar center lol. -zack-
