40K in medical bills May have to liquidate
Although I'm hoping for the best, I may have to sell this stuff to pay for surgery. Some of it is new, and some of it is old. Some of it is really nice, some of it is just ok All of it is in good condition, and is in use at the moment. I know I'm only going to get a fraction of what I paid for it. That's just the reality of the situation. What would be a fair price for the whole pile? ï¸ MICROPHONES (Utility dynamics) SHURE SM57 ( several old beat up ) SHURE Beta 58 ELECTROVOICE DS35 ELECTROVOICE RE 15 ELECTROVOICE RE 20 (2) SENNHEISER MC211 Small Diaphragm Dynamic (matched set) (Ribbons) BEYER M500 ROYER R121 (LDC‘s) OKTAVA 319(2) SOUNDELUX U195 (SDC‘s) (2)RODE NT-5 ( matched set) OKTAVA MC 012 (2) 2)COUNTRYMAN Isomax (Hypercardioid Ultra-miniature condenser) ï¸ PRE-AMPLIFIERS UNIVERSAL AUDIO M610 GRACE MODEL 101 (pair) FOCUSRITE TRACKMASTER JOEMEEK VC3Q ART Tubpac TAPCO 6000R (circa. 1973-The original Mackie mixer MOTU 828mkII ALESIS AI-3 ADAT 8-channel I/O ï¸ INSTRUMENTS MARTIND41( NEW) GIBSON(1958)ES225T / GIBSON(2000) Les Paul Classic 1960 Re-issue GIBSONClassical(Cheap but old) TAKAMINE C332C ALESIS SR16 Drum Machine (I have no clue) ï¸ OTHER RECORDING EQUIPMENT TASCAM 234 Four track cassette DENNON DRM-710 2-TRK cassette ï¸ OTHERSTUFF (3 )EBTECH Isolation transformer (2)WHIRLWIND IMP2 direct box PALMER PLS 02 (Line level splitter) RAPCO 100 ft snake-, 12 XLR + 4 TRS CABLES ( Lots and lots of cables,) ï¸ GUITAR PREAMPLIFIERS AND AMPLIFIERS BOSS GP20 “Amp Factory†KORG AX1/ LINE-6 POD 2.0 MARSHALL AVT20 Guitar Amplifier ï¸ MONITORS TANNOY Reveal (Active) JBL PB10(SUB Active) HAFLER M5 POLK, INFINITY( Consumer) ï¸ DYNAMICS dbx 160A dbx 266XL (2) ALESIS Nano Compressor BOSS CS-2 Pedal ï¸ EFFECTS AUDIO CENTRON TFX-SP BOSS Blues Driver LEXICON MPX100 Music XPC C2 3ghz 1gig Ram 80 & 120 HD's

Be looking at a realistic price of about 25% of what you payed for it in total. Some things hold their value-others are worthless second hand. Harsh, huh? But-realistic. You may have better luck raising the surgery money as a loan, using the gear as collateral. Good luck with the sale, and also with the surgery.

Selling all my stuff is the last ditch, nuclear option. I hope it doesn't come down to that. 25-35 percent is about what I figured. This isn't a fun situation to be in, but there are so many who are worse off. All in all, my life is great, compared to the people in New Orleans who lost everything. There's still some fight in this old junkyard dog I will survive DinoG

Don't know if you have already considered this, but have thought about having your surgery performed in another country? I believe there is an asian country ( for instance) that specialises in this and they have a very high sandard of competence (perhaps higher than the US). It's way cheaper than the redicoulous amounts charged in US hospitals (i.e., $12 for an aspirin, $800 per night, etc..,).

Also - if it comes down to it God forbid, selling at all seperately on eBay or here, for example will garner you alot more than if you try to sell the whole pile whole. In similar circumstances, I have found a big difference. It is a pain for all the packaging and shipping and listing, but worth it. I hope it doesn't come down to that though.

Don't make an expensive mistake - sell this stuff on Ebay. Even if it's ultimately more work than you expected, you will get more money selling it on Ebay than just a "fire sale". Good luck! (ps how much for the Royers?)

Good luck! (ps how much for the Royers?) AMEN. As usual, Krizrox points us in the right direction. I've gotten 75% or more for most of the gear I've sold on Ebay! It'll take a serious time commitment to sell all of that stuff (if it becomes necessary), but it'll be well worth it. You could also start by selling the stuff that you use the least and do it in waves, so it doesn't seem like such a daunting task. Good Luck, SK

Here's hoping you don't even need the surgery, and this thread is a moot point. If you do, though, best of luck to you, and hope you get back on your feet soon.

It's the best way to sell music gear, I've sold to folks all over the world and even made money on some things after keeping them for 10 years, it's amazing.

Don't you worry about paying your bills... get better fast as you can...these surgeries can really get to ya, you'll get past it, it just takes time, it slowly gets better. Having something to look forward to, (getting back to what you love) can be a big motivator to get well. Best of luck to ya.
1973 "A" neck. I'd rather be playing Bass:

I don't know, but I'll take your Oktava MC012's off your hands if you so desire. Are they matched ?? You'll never sell this stuff in a package deal and get what it is worth.

Much has happened since I last posted this in March. Both good and bad. That's the way life is. I was touched by the responses that were posted. I still have my stuff, and for the time being will be hanging on to it. If it comes down to selling, it will be as individual items. Thanks for the wisdom folks. P.S. It's kind of weird really. When everything in my life started to go down the crapper, I suddenly began writing again after a long creative drought. With my face all messed up I won't be performing any time soon, but it feels so good to have my pressure relief valve working again. Life was beginning to drive me crazy, and I was only walking distance away to begin with. Now if I weren't such a Midiot, I could program this drum track. But that's another story.... Thanks for being here... dino

glad to hear things are back to your standpoint.
Ask yourself, what's life? Life is a journey that you walk alone.
