Windows XP - SP2

After much consideration and hand wringing, I finally upgraded to XP-SP2. After re-installing the driver for my EMU-404, I got sound to work. However, Sonar is still "dead" - no audio... Loading a previously working project seems to work OK, but no audio.. Any suggestions?

Don't forget the updates from EMU. You will need to re-install those as well. Have you selected the EMU inputs and outputs under Options>Audio? You may need to re-configure Patchmix. Check your driver mode and sample rate settings. Essentially, you have a new installation, and I seem to remember it being a little tricky out of the gate.
    Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion but no luck. I re-installed Sonar and now get a message something like "can't find directshow 5.1"? Some searching around did not reveal anything that looks like this. Latest version of DirectX from MS is on the machine...

Do a search on Direct X. I remember reading that there are problems with newest version and you may need to roll back to earlier version.

Home Studio works fine under SP2. I haven't had any problems with it.

Loading a previously working project seems to work OK, but no audio.

What, exactly, do you mean by this? What are you seeing? I'm not giving you a hard time, just trying to help pinpoint the problem. If you bring up Patchmix with SHS4 running, do you see activity on the meters?
Hang in there, somebody will figure it out.
