Dimension and Rapture owners Pls Respond
Thank goodness I finally got a valid serial number, and was able to DL my updates and X-Pack for Dimension Pro. Thanks Cakewalk.
Hi Guys,
I'm in love with D-Pro so much, I'm considering purchasing Rapture. I've been listening to the demo of Rapture and D-Pro. IMHO, D-Pro sounds better for making real instruments sounds for country and pop, but Rapture sounds like the way to go if you are making movies or playing new-age type sounds. WHAT SAY YE?

DimPro is a sample playback synth for acoustic sounds and a lot of weirdness from the Dimension folder.
Rapture is just a synth. It doesn't do acoustic sounds very well (I guess you could, but if you have Dimension that is kinda silly), but it does most other things from the presets. Organs? Synth basses? Leads? Other Assorted weird sounds? You are covered.
Between the two synths you have about 90% of every synth sound you would ever need covered. What isn't preseted is easily programmed and since both share a common interface it is easy to learn. And deep, if you want to go there. There is still FM, Additive and Wavetable synthesis left, but those are more specialist tools that you can fill out later.
And Rapture is the cheaper of the two, so ....

There's quite a few things Rapture can do that DP can't.....more than quite a few actually. Well worth the money. Plus, They've both got very bright futures.....I know this to be a fact.

LOL. Most likely we know what you were trying to say. Rapture does not do emulations of "real" instruments. But as a synth it is vastly comprehensive. One of the best soft-synths out there. If you want to see what it can do, check out B-Rock's collection of sounds for it (Any audio demos of them floating around?)

Nick, right, tho I think I went on to explain the difference.
As far as audio demos, there were a bunch on the Rapture page - don't know if they are still there. I don't know that they showed off Rapture - and they didn't have any of the new presets which filled it out.
Dimpro for realistic sounds and Rapture for synthetic sounds ought to give you more than enough to play with and programm for years.

Dim Pro, Rapture, Z3ta+...The righteous trinity of Soft Synths, AFAIK... Rapture is optimized for synth sounds and does not come with any sample content but wavetables. But all you do is load up a sfz from Dpro and you got that cello sound with Mucho synth crazieness. Why? Because you can/it's fun and different/ And it will blow you away to have that edge. It does make a big difference to have that option. MDK said it all
