Question for Cakewalk: ACT/Control Surface DDX3216

are there any plans to provide a control surface plugin for the behringer ddx3216 digital mixer? the generic surface functions in a spartan kind of way but this device could really benefit from a full implementation to make use of the motorized faders and rotary encoders along with the MMC functions. i notice quite a few Sonar users have one of these units and it certainly would be a big plus!

Hey that would be very nice. For sure that mixer would be perfect for SONAR use! Count me in. What do you say, cakewalk team?

    Hi:
Same here for the Yamaha O1V. The full MIDI implementation of that device can be very usefull with an ACT Control Surface plugin.
    Greetings.

Ditto again! for the VS-2480! However, ACT would have to become bi-directional in order for this to work properly. And seeing as Cakewalk and Roland have been in cahoots for some time now, why wasn't this included in the original S6 release?

Might as well add the Tascam DM-24 to the list.

I'll add my vote (I have a ddx3216 as well).

Can individual users map out whatever controller themselves and save it as an ACT preset to share with other users?

Indeed if i knew how to code such a thing i would do it but, alas, my caveman brain does not comprehend these strange squiggles and lines of crytpic hoo-hah. No grok. I wonder if there is a lot of re-useable code between the BCF2000 and the DDX3216? I know that the DDX has full midi implementation for such things and functions as such in Logic and cubase.

I have to apologize for saying " such " so many times, I just re-read my post and I don't know what I was thinking...

there's nothing on the DDX3216 user group and the UCS plugin for the BCF does not apply to the DDX. So we need an actual bi-directional Control Surface Plugin for the DDX3216 itself.

well the DDX3216 Studioware panel works well enough, wouldn't that be useable as a starting point? maybe somebody from Cakewalk can jump in here...

There is the Proghead implementation of the DM-24 remote controll. I have used it. It's cool.

how much of the code for a plugin for say a DM24 or Mackie is re-useable for another device? is it just a matter of changing the MIDI mapping or Sysex codes to make it respond?
