Adding a click track problem

Can anyone help me? I am using CW music creator Pro
I am adding a click track to a file and can't seem to get the timing right. I am putting the track on the first and third beat and when I play the track together the music is off about 1/2 a beat.
Is there a way to line the music up with the 1st and 3rd beats?
