parameter feedback with bcr2000?

hello everyone. i got a question:
is it possible to send a parameter feedback to a midi controller with hs4?
i use a behringer bcr2000 and i managed to control the console with it. so far so good,
but i can´t send a feedback back to the controller. everytime i open a projekt, i have to adjust all the knobs on the controller manually, they don´t adopt the value of the on-screen faders and knobs. the manual of the bcr2000 says that the controlled software must be able to send a paramteter feedback to the midi controller.
maybe anyone can help me with that.

I just got my bcf2000 working well after much frustration.

you have to make sure that your options, control surfaces, midi ins and outs ar set to your BCR, and in the proper mode (Mackie or other appropriate mode for BCR -there are newer cakewalk drivers on behringer's cite, download them to your computer)

my guess is that your BCR doesnt have the right firmware downloaded to it.
go to behringer's cite and download the file that updates your bcr firmware, then, download the newest firmware (1.07 or something like that).

Then, install and open the update software on your cpu and use it to install the newer version of firmware to your BCR.

I am soooooooo happy with my BCF now that I did those above listed things.

    hope it helps.

i have the firmware 1.10 and the bcr1.1.1.1 driver installed.
but i think i might have found the problem: there are no emulation modes for bcr2000. there is no pdf regarding the emulation modes (like the bcf) on the behringer site.
just a question, spaceboy: do the faders move to the right position by themselfs, when you oben a cakewalk projekt?
    thanks

Yes, they snap into place as soon as HS opens, then snap to a new configuration when a project is loaded.
I will look at behringer's site to see if I see anything you might be missing.
There are a lot of bcr users here on the forum, so be encouraged that it will work, you'll just have to work at it a bit.

thanx a lot, spaceboy. i don´t know what else to do. i even called behringer support, but they told me to use a seperat bcr preset for every single projekt. that can´t be it... i´m very thankfull for every idea.

    check out above listed post.

went to behringer's site. there isnt anything on there that deals with cakewalk and bcr (documents).
the firmware I downloaded for my bcf is universal with the bcr though.

    good luck.
let me know your progress or any more questions.

RE: parameter feedback with bcr2000? 2006/11/24 05:48:30 (permalink)
    got it! i´ve been enlightened.
even though i didn´t manage to provide a parameter feedback for the bcr, i did find a way to work around my problem:

the trick was to use the generic surface plugin. with it there are 2 possibilities to work efficiently with the bcr.

    1. to use an absolute controller:
first you have to set the bcr controllers like this:
[type: cc, ch: *user*, parameter: *user*, val 1: 0, val 2: 127, mode: absolute (abs)]
after that you can assign the desired parameters to a knb on bcr in generic surface (press F1 for help for instructions) by using the "learn" button.
if you move the assinged knob on the bcr now, the onscreen fader won´t move until the bcr-knob reaches the same level as the onscreen fader.

    2. to use a relative controller:
    set the controllers like this:
[type: cc, ch: *user*, parameter: *user*; var 1: 64, var 2: 65, mode: relative 3 (rel3)]
then assign the parameters in generic surface like above.
now the knob on the bcr will continue the level of the onscreen fader, whatever position the onscreen fader is.
but when this possibilty is used, the LED cricle is useless. technically you can turn it off (using the remaining two editing knobs without a white label).

either way, the onscreen faders won´t "jump", when the onscreen level doesn´t match the bcr-knob level, which can be pretty disturbing on volume. that was technically my basic problem.
plus the setting can be used on any project when generic surface plug in is used. so you don´t have to assign the knobs manually for every single project.
and, at last, i don´t need to save the knob values on the bcr for different projects in seperat presets.

I'm really glad you figured out your stuff.
I also commend you for posting what ended up working for you in the end.
this will help future troubleshooters who find themselves aimlessly searching the old forums for bcr info.
    congradulations!

And seven years later I echo spaceboy's final comment. I'm looking into getting a couple second hand bcr2000s and it's good to know what worked with sonar in the past. Hopefully it works as well or better with Sonar Xx.
