Panning the individual notes

Hello!
Is there a way to seperate the drum samples at all? I LOVE the kits used in Dim pro, but I'm a total newb and have no idea how to pan them seperate from each other.

Any tips and tricks about using Dim Pro for drums is welcome!

    I usually just loaded up multiple instances of DimPro, one for kick, one for snare etc.

    How do you control them that way?

    Sequence the entire midi drum track then split the track via a CAL script into individual tracks per note.

    how to pan them seperate from each other.
    You know, there's a .jpg floating around here somewhere that Rene provided. It details the mic setup and kits as recorded. This post was a close as I could come to it. Anyway, there's an easy way to adjust panning in many of the drum setups, if it wasn't already "printed' into the recording.

    Find one of the kits that you're interested in, and look to the Load Multisample slot (second one down) for the .sfz file that maps it out. Either do a search for that file name on your hard drive, or click on the Multisample slot and hunt it down. [It's a safe bet that it's in the 02 - Drums subflder.] If you right-click on it, and choose Open or Edit, it should pop up in Notepad or Wordpad (assuming WinXP).

    Immediately save the file under another name. For example, if you're after the Pro Dry Kit 01.sfz, save it as "My Pro Dry Kit 01.sfz" or similar. Now you've got a backup of the original, and your new working copy will be saved in the same Drum subfolder. You don't have to be an SFZ editing whiz to change the panning position. Most everything is clearly notated in the text file. Lets' jump down to the Toms in the Pro Dry Kit 01.sfz:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    // Toms
    <control>
    default_path=Pro Toms Compressed\

    <group>
    loop_mode=one_shot

    <region> sample=Sonor Hilite Tom 4 421 UP - 016 Compressed.wav key=f2 pan=-60
    <region> sample=Sonor Hilite Tom 3 421 UP - 016 Compressed.wav key=g2 pan=-20
    <region> sample=Sonor Hilite Tom 2 421 UP - 016 Compressed.wav key=a2 pan=20
    <region> sample=Sonor Hilite Tom 1 421 UP - 016 Compressed.wav key=b2 pan=60
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    See the pan positions for each tom, spread across (-100 to 100= hard left and hard right) the soundstage? Just under it, the Hi-hats go about it a different way. There's individual samples, but all of them are in the same pan position by virtue of a <group>:

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    // Closed HiHat
    <control>
    default_path=Pro Hats Dry\

    <group>
    volume=-6
    key=f#2 loop_mode=one_shot group=1 pan=30

    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH001.wav hivel=40
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH002.wav lovel=41 hivel=55
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH003.wav lovel=56 hivel=68
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH004.wav lovel=69 hivel=78
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH005.wav lovel=79 hivel=90
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH006.wav lovel=91 hivel=102
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH007.wav lovel=103 hivel=113
    <region> sample=AT4041 - Tip - RH008.wav lovel=114
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    If you go through each part of the kit (soon it'll only take a minute or two to do this), you can shift the position of any part of the kit. Save it as "My Pro Dry Kit 01.sfz", and load up it instead of the original. Most of the kits don't use much of the GUI front panel, but if they do (for example: they use EQ), match those settings, and save it as a complete program.

    And do not forget this. You can load the individual samples to an instance of dpro set to multi, place the lokey/hikey to any note you wish. This allows each instance 4 hits of your chosing. And you could process and render to wave any drum sound to your needs for a custom flair. This is with no layers yes but it does work well if you have a audio editor to plus these to the max.
