Dimension demo?

Hey, has anyone heard news regarding whether Cakewalk will ever release a demo version of Dimension Pro? I would really like a chance to check out it's workflow and features before I go for that large an expenditure, and having demo versions available has really aided me in the past, both in avoiding instruments I didn't like/need, as well as confirming the others that would be a smart purchase.

Cheers,
Envoy

Not that I am aware of, you can D/L the Rapture demo, they use the same engine and have some feature in common but are not really the same. The closest thing to a DP demo is the Dimension that comes with Project5. After playing with it for a few seconds I knew DP was in my future.

Dpro is a sampler kinda. This does not define it that well but it's ok to say that.

What this means is while the engine is small the content is not. But bang for buck is killer.

I pretty much had that figured out. I've got two instruments that are sampler/rompler-type instruments already. Part of what might sway my decision is the included library, and the rest would be ease of use. I'm a long-time user Z3ta+ and a fan of Rene's work (the programmer). The last bit of info is also that I work in non-standard/microtonal tunings, which I know the instrument supports.

My guess is that CW isn't all that interested in putting up a demo that relies on so much sample content, but it would sure be nice to try out...

Yea, 7 gigs is a bit much for downloading. And since the sfz files are a big part of the synth, it would be silly for them to make their library available.

That sfz format is to die for dude! It's just so fine you miss out if you don't snag it. The learning curve is there but for me it's just a no brainer. Rene and company put this together for the next big thing and it lives up to it's rep, truly a killer app for all.

    Hi Envoy,

I agree that the lack of at least a limited demo is a minus, however, try listening to the samples on the site. The sounds are very accurate as to what you can do with Dimension Pro - and more. I'm still shaking my head in amazement everytime I open it. It has got a lot of class.

OK, we can stop the thread, I've just gone ahead and ordered it. Ah, hope springs eternal...
