Drum tracks can be built from several different options. Looped wave files are the easiest, you just paste the looped sections into the audio track they are usually aranged in complete measures. Then one can also use midi to build a drum track, If you have a midi keyboard you can "tap" out a drum track on the keys, each key is assigned to a drum sound. there are several different ways to use each method, finding the one that suits you is the big deal. I use a program called Jamstix, and it can follow either a midi or audio track and build a drm track for you, or you can enter the measures into a step writer screen, other programs that are useful are PC Drummer, and leaf drums, do a google search for these and play around with them.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

I use beatmonkey also they are a great company and the drums sound excellent they are easy to buy from on line and they ship on time and the files are organized and as robo said looped wave files are the easiest to use IMHO

I use Drums on Demand and really love it - there are soooo many loops to choose from! I got three volumes (1-3) so I don't think I'll run out of drum ideas that soon. That's not to say that I won't program drums anymore. I actually love the challenge to create a drum track with the mouse in piano roll. I really do. When done, it gives me some kind of a satisfying feeling. It's exactly what has been said in here: You gotta find the best for you and the individual song you're working on. Like I said, one day you might want to create a drum track from scratch despite owning a whole bunch of loops ...
