Adding compression to complete mix (GT3)

Does anyone know if you can add compression to the overall mix. Can it be done by sending all the tracks to a bus and then adding compression effect, or can compression be added after the tracks have been mixed down to 1 track?.

I have heard this is a good way to make the mix sound polished. has anyone tried this?.

Thanks,

Rome

Rome, check out some of the other threads regarding mixing/mastering. A number of posters just went to great length to explain some of the aspects of this process to me. And as helpful as these people are, I'm still sure they get tired of going over the same old answers again and again.

the best thing I've found out ther for compressing the full mix (all tracks bounced to 1 stereo track) is called tricomp (or something like that). google it. it has three frequency bands of compression. it comes with like 10 presets, and can be adjusted manually as well. this has loudened up my mixes (loudened??).

you can insert the effect into your bin, or run all tracks to a bus containing the effect.

nice effect though... and best of all free!
