I'm a big fan Mark. The rhythm section and composition is much more straight forward than the previous ones I've heard you do. The great sax playing on top definately keeps my interest going. As a matter of fact one listen wasn't enough.

A really great job as usual.

    Thanks for sharing this one.

    Sweet!
This is right up my street.
I can't get enough sax these days, I listen to Boney, Sanborn, Steve Cole, Candy Dulfer, and many more.
    Love this.
    Thanks.

Hi Mark, that was great. Why you named as "I'm Sorry"?Even If we beg for more you won't play?!The beautiful chord changes & the sax solo are great.Very cool subdued rhythm makes the music wonderful.Sounded like a small demo of a long wonderful jazz music.

Wonderfully smooth. The entry to the song was rather abrupt, sample wise.
Maybe add an extra second of silence up front and a fast fade in during the silence. Eliminate the abrupt start.

All your other songs seem to start smoothly already, so whoever mixed this already knows what to do.
They just missed a little on the start of this one. Wouldn't be you, would it?

Nice style. Nice syncopation, nice bass, smooth drums. (all the songs, not just the one.)
Nice pan placement and sonic separation of the parts (EQ). Everyone had their own space.

You are obviously pro or semi. Vegas? Sure. You play out.

It's a first draft audio demo I'm hoping to include in a Jazz Education book I'm currently putting together. This is one of the many short versions (examples) of music I've sent to the publishers. If it's one of the tracks we agree on, then I'll go ahead and redo it. You guys DO pay attention. Thanks for listening and noticing.

I'm an every day fan of jazz. As far as sax players, my tastes run more toward Ben Webster and Paul desmond than a lot of contemporaries. However, I loved Zow, the dark undercurrent, the street hipster feel of it. Ed Would begins with wordplay, and then goes into outer space. I wish they'd get ahold of this at my local jazz station, in your hometown of Long Beach, KKJZ 88.1(used to be KLON). I'm Sorry needs no apology. Lively and syncopated, it'll make my girl glad she came with me to the club tonight, get her feet moving, and got the chops to satisfy me too. great work. I'll be happy to hear more.

    6271sax,

What clef/key are you planning on using for this instructional book? I'd suggest various clef's, maybe available as a link from a web site, so lazy guitarists like me (who don't want to transpose) could learn from your book. I'd be interested in buying your book.

There could be a hundred things wrong with this and no one would ever notice as long as your sax is there.
    stunning and sick.

PS if i had to be critical i'd say the "dreamy chorus" of the rhodes is a little cheesy and i'd try to make it sound a bit more earthy.

Very nice sax... just great sound and great feel as well. Loved the groove of the track.

Critically, what would improve the track in my mind would be to have a little more 'sensitive' drum/perc track. Right now it just seems to chug along beside the rest of the track. Maybe small tweaks of the loop or a few flourishes to indicate that its a living, breathing part of the track.

But overall nice mix, nice sounds, nice separation. Tasteful and mature musicianship!

Very high class as usual. Very Proffessional. I wouldn't expect anything less from you. It is SO nice to listen to this relaxing and well composed music. I have to ask you: What piano/Rhodes you are using? And what mike are you using for sax? The sound is as fabulous as the composition.

    Mark,

Ahhh yes, .. beautiful piece. You have a gift to play that sax. Very tasty, communicative, dynamic tone and feeling. Always nice to listen to one of your compositions. I think this would make a great track for your book .. I hope it does well. (Relistened to your other tracks as I typed this ... very nice)

I can read music notation much quicker than tablature and I'd guess that is true for the majority of guitarist that would be interested in your book. I was just saying I'd prefer it in concert pitch as opposed to being written for a Bb or Eb instrument and I think having concert pitch versions would be good for expanding the market for your book. I hope I'm using the correct terms here, the guitar is a 'concert pitch' instrument - sort of, the note will sound one octave lower than written when played on a guitar.
