Recording Problem

I'm having a problem with the system that just began this week. Up until now, I've been able to record audio tracks just fine. However, a couple of days ago, whenever my recording became longer than five seconds, the CPU monitor on the bottom of the screen reached "WARNING", and the recording would stop.

I've tried all the tips in troubleshooting to no avail. Is there anything else that I should try so that I can record again?

Air, how fast and how much memory does your computer have? Are you running any other programs at the same time as MC? It's best if you turn off everything but MC, no virus scans, pop-up blockers, etc. Turn off the Microsoft system sounds. Turn off the wall paper and screen saver.
Are you running a lot of MC audio effects? Have you installed any new software or hardware lately? Are you getiing feedback from somewhere?

Is it the CPU or the Disk monitor that is giving you the warning? How full is your disk, and how long has it been since it was defragmented? If your disk doesn't have large, coutiguous spaces to work with, it will be working very hard when recording your tracks.
