how to install z3ta+ vst

How do I install the z3ta+ VST version ? I copied the file z3ta+.dll into the Cakewalk VSTPlugins folder, but this caused S6PE to have a bitmap loading error.
Thanks,
Dan

You need the subfolder structure to come along with the .dll. Perhaps it's been changed, but that used to be contained in \...rgcaudio z3ta+\rgcaudio z3ta+. Under that level, you'll find subfolders for Arpeggio, MIDI, Presets, Skin, Tunings, User Manual, and Wavetables.

z3ta+ needs access to those folders to function properly. In the external VST Adapters, you could just point to an additional location. With S6, I'd guess that you'd be better off extracting the .zip file contents directly to the VSTPlugins folder. Either way, you need the rest of the files along with the .dll.

Thanks brock (as usual ). That worked...now I can finally automate some z3ta+ parameters and also the ACT mapping works! The dxi version did not allow either of these. Any idea why the dxi is so crippled ?

I'm not sure as to why. Maybe it's because it started as a VSTi. I seem to remember a quote from Rene regarding the DXi. FWIW: it's the opposite case with a lot of other synths. Given the choice, it's prudent to install both versions, as one or the other often performs better or more reliably.

DXi automation is slicker than VST. However, it takes a small amount of CPU in a 'per-parameter' basis, regardless if you automate it or not.
z3ta+ has 600+ parameters, so it was a good idea not to give it DXi automation.

A new, groundbreaking technology was introduced in Rapture and Dimension Pro to avoid that CPU munchkin and make DXi automation evern more slicker. But z3ta+ is older than it.

There you go again, René: burying us with technical terminology. Thanks for the explanation; it makes sense. And for the munchkin suppressor.
