Great Work Dim Pro!

I just had to come here and throw some gratitude around!
I have been experimenting with Dim Pro in my projects for percussion and some easy synth samples, and I have to say I'm really impressed with this software. I've had to use my computer keyboard to trigger the sounds, but once I get a midi controller it should really unlock software like this! With the great array of sounds it's bundled with and expanded with I can fill a lot of sonic space.

Please keep up the great work on this software, I absolutely love it and plan to use it much more in the future.

Yes it is. I'm just starting to play around with it. I even brought Rapture and Z3ta at the steal of a price.
Now when is the GPO Dimension Pro format coming out or how about Cakewalk coming out with their own killer sampler.
Bet they get a lot of business from us loyal Cakewalk customers.
Come on Rene how about a little information ----- PLEASE

It might come as a surprize but Dpro does have most of the GPO as the pocket orchestra included. And that came with the original set along with custom strings, pianos, quite a killer harp. And IMHO Dpro is the killer sampler to have right now. And watch out, devs are now producing sets for Dpro as we speak. Check with Frank@prosounds Frank Basil@smartloops And I can only assume many more quality set makers hard at it such as Precissionsounds. I feel this Dpro is gonna be big I tell ya.

Man...I can't tell you how much I'd love to see Cakewalk bring DimPro/Rapture and the SFZ format into its own as a major competitor to the likes of Kontakt & Gigastudio. Rapture is TERRIFIC. (Z3TA+ is fun too.) I haven't purchased DimPro yet -- just recently acquired Rapture & Z3TA+. But after headaches with the GPO Kontakt player crashing and Gigastudio BSODs (which are finally worked out or worked around), it was amazing to install Rapture & Z3TA+. They worked perfectly from the get-go, sound excellent and are VERY deep -- and highly automatable [a shortcoming in GPO & GigaStudio].

I don't know how Kontakt 2 is...but so far my experience with Cakewalk synths has been infinitely better than with NI-based or Tascam products.

I'll pile on. I have Dim Pro, Rapture and Z3TA+ and I couldn't be happier. I actually feel that interacting with them creatively and technically is expanding my consciousness.

I tried the online manual but it seems like numbers and symbols to me that I couldnt understand...I admit I do not have that good background with SFZ or programming.

If only B rock or any of the gurus can post a kinder garden lesson for an SFZ intro that would help people like me who can not catch up with the current level . At least how to begin which file to open and so on.
A simple program to start with and then go to bigger stuff. I would love to make a full use of Dimension . I guess I should do more digging. How fun to make my own patches and then maybe share it with folks around here. that will be amazing.

Markus, I sketched out something like this, but I don't have the time right now to finish it up. I used an existing Grand Piano preset, thinking that would be common ground across the board. I'm trying to keep it simple and readable, yet cover the entire preset. I'll let you know when it's up online.

If you're interested in this kind of stuff, you should look into that Cakewalk Synths book. It covers .sfz editing, and the lion's share of all of the information in it is quite useful. Now how to I say this ... there's a number of potential pitfalls that need to be revised in that. It's not anything that you can't work through with some logic, but I can see a lot of traps for new users. And "old" users, too: this format is constantly evolving, and I'm learning new approaches every day myself.

I started doing sets using the soundfont spec. And with no turorial I just hacked my way through. That and looking at prosets within an editor. I will agree that to just open a sfz and look it could be daunting. But the start small, keep hacking and sooner or later ya start thinking in the sfz format. It works if you really want it.

Keep in mind that the rewards are worth while.

That's how I did it as well, Larry. I was way behind the rest of you who started out with sfz and sfz+, and I'm still learning something new every day. Every expansion pack brings some new nuggets, and the reference section in the Cakewalk Synth book certainly didn't hurt.

Personally, that's the best way for me to learn: dive in and fight my way through it. Other people just need a little boost to get going.
