Newbie issue with MIDI recording & SONAR3

I MIDI-recorded the separate drum track, the bass track and piano tracks into SONAR3. I then reecorded a string track. When I playback the whole thing the string track has been echoed and the echoed track is out of time with itself and the other tracks. It is also really out of tune with the piece. What am I doing wrong?

MY sound card is an ESI WaveTerminal 192X. I'm using the Edirol VSC synth from the SONAR-supplied rack. The problem hasn't surfaced again since I restarted SONAR so I think that we can disengage from this thread. I really appreciate your willingness to help. Thanks.
