New song -"This Dream

I completed "This Dream" with reverb on the drums. I tryed some on the vocal track, but didn't like the way it sounded.

Take care,

Terry, if you were to come out with a CD, I'd buy it. If I were a big shot in the music biz I'd have no problem boosting your sales with good ads ...
I am a real fan of your music! Your distinct voice just gives your songs this special touch - a touch of yesterday. Your voice sure is your trademark, no doubt.
I love your arrangements - here the strings and piano really sound convincing, both nicely panned, and everything sits well in the mix. Don't be shy with the drums and the bass - both could come forward a little bit - especially the bass.
The song structure, very good. I like the bridge with the strong piano support. Nice playing.
Well, another big hit - at least for me!
Thanks again for sharing it with us
    Heinz.

Hi,very beautiful song.No need of reverb on vocals. The strings obbligato sounds very smooth.Your voice is peculiar with bend in perfect timing and very sweet.

My question is how do you keep cranking out all these songs so quickly? You are VERY prolific! Do you have a 50 song stash like Lennon and McCartney were alleged to on The Beatles first album? It seems like every week you are wowing us again, what is your secret? I am in awe!!!!!

    Terry,

Nice tune, catchy, ... clever name too "SilverBeat" .. is that new ? I don't recall seeing that the last time I visited your soundclck page. I like the piano that comes in around 3:15. Great pop. I liked the phasey/flangey/modulation on the voice but thought it would settle into the mix even better with a touch less of the effects. Good job Terry.

Nice song here, original and fearless!!

I like the sound of the vocal and the chord colors in the beginning of the song. Nice song structure, kept me interested throughout.

Critically, to make me happy....I would try and get the instruments to mesh a little better... the wide panning doesnt really do it for me. Maybe try and get the vocal to sit in the mix better... bring the instruments in... push the strings back and center and "lushify" them some.

As a songwriter would like your opinion on this track, I am working on... from a song structure point of view.

Hello again, Groveen--Just now had another good time listening to your music. This is the best production yet. Quirky verse with unusual chords. Catchy chorus. Reading through the comments--I don't get the one about moving the drums Up more--?!--They're Way up there for my taste anyway. The bass is weaker than it should be. The strings would really benefit from some reverb, they're sounding extremely dry--I think maybe they are. They'll fit the style of the song much better, in my opinion, with some reverb--to "lushify" them as lwb suggested.

    Sounding good!

I liked the piano and beat. The voice was cool too. It had that Lennon-esq thing going. I did think the vocals where a little loud, but other than that, I enjoyed it.

    Hey groveendroad,
the structure and, in particular, the vocal melody could easily have come out of Brian Wilson, circa Pet sounds. So, excellent writing.

The strings don't sound too hot and the piano is just passable but these are faults in the samples themselves and not really anything you could do much about.
The drum fills are the only thing i can really find fault with here and that's just the fills, which seem a bit busy and flash for the relaxed feel of the track.
    Good stuff.

Heinz. Thank you once again for your input. I'm working on the mix thing. I've been working on bringing the bass up in all my song's.

    I wish you the best,
    Terry Carroll & SilverBeat

P.S. I'm completing the song, "The Nights Are Long Without you", this week. It's not my best work, but I have to post it any way. look for it soon.

    pantherhawk27263,
I have songs that I am working on all the time. I have bits of songs that I Need to complete. I always look forward to completing a song. Writing and completing a song is my fix. I don't know why.

Randy, I always look forward to what you have to say about my songs. I find myself trying to think of ways to please you and the others when I'm writing. I am working on the reverb thing, but I'm not a big fan of it. I'm not sure why, but I like things dry.

    Terry,

Just saw this on the soundclick site .. an advert for a John Lennon songwriting contest .. don't know anything about it, but I immediately thought of your music.

Hi, thanx for the heads up. I've been told many times over that song contest, for the most part are fixed, because of silly people. It's my understand that I have a better chance flying to mars. I'm also told that JLSC, just used Lennons name, it's not what he would stand for. Song writing was loved by Lennon.

    Terry,

I've heard alot of your tunes and never felt compelled to comment until hearing this one... To me, this one exudes a level of confidence... I don't know if it's the cool verse chords or the song itself, but I really enjoyed this... My only critique would be the addition of something to help the chorus seems a little bolder... maybe a little percussion or background vocals would really help her stand out in my opinion...

    Thanks,
    Dave

Nice thing. Very easy flow in to my ears. I dont like strings mostly in one side and piano in the other though.Kind of 2 track mono even though they only are panned 75%. The sound at 2:30 where the piano comes in the center and in real stereo gives the music a perfect balance in my ears, it is almost a relief. I would place the strings and the piano in true stereo in the center (including ambience and reverb) all the way. Everything else is absolutely perfect. And i like the 'dryness' of the song.
