Newbie question: Why doesn't midi note added go to track?

I am trying out my first midi stuff and recordered fine, but when I add any notes via the piano roll or the staff these notes do not get added to the actual midi track, and show up as a different color on the roll? What do I need to do?
Thanks,
CP

You're probably adding those notes in a different MIDI track. make sure that you first select the MIDI track and then open the piano roll.

Hi, CptanPanic--Boten has your answer there. The big clue is that you said the inserted notes are a different color than the others. Each track has a different color when viewed through the Piano View. Do as Boten said, be sure to select the track you want up in the Track View, then make sure you've chosen the right track in the Piano View. You'll get it.
