VST config says VC-64 won't run?

Hi Guys,

I ran the VST configuration and got the message "The VC-64 can not run on this host; processing will be bypassed"

However, when I call it up it seems to work... BUT if I change a setting then try to go back to the original preset, it's not the same. The only way to get back to a preset's original setting is to delete it out of the fx bin, then re-instantiate.

Could someone tell me what's up with that?

The two things you're seeing are un-related.

Don't worry about the VST config message... if it runs it runs.

The second thing you're talking about is typical VST handling. You changed a preset, so it remembered that. It's a quirk of VST plugins in general.

The host message is just the S6 exclusivity being ineptly handled. Basically, VC64 has a message it sends out to applications that says "If you're not Sonar 6, then I refuse to work".

The config manager is just getting that and saying, "Well, I know I'm not Sonar 6, whatever that is, so I'd better tell the user that this plug-in won't work".

Ahh, good explanation. I couldn't think of how that was being handled... but yea, the VST manager isn't S6, so it's getting barked at for opening the plug. Doesn't matter because you don't want to actually run the plug in the VST manager.

I had that error message, and here's how I ended up inadvertently fixing it: I scanned from within the Cakewalk Plugin Manager in Sonar 6, and checking the boxes for "scan failed plugins" and "scan existing plugins". Bingo--VC-64 is found without a whimper. It worked anyway, before; I discovered this accidentally when I had occasion to reinstall Sonar 6.
