From Project 5 to

I am a long time user of Sonar and have just started using Project 5. How do I import in to Sonar stuff that I have created in Project 5...specifically midi string arrangements?

Thanks,
Mack

Save the midi string arragements as patterns and SONAR will happily import. IIRC keeping a windows explorer window open or in the taskbar could speed the process by dragging the saved pattern into SONAR which will automatically cr8 a new track for it.

    have a good one

If you want to just import a midi arrangement into Sonar go to your project5 editor pane with the midi arrangement active (if it is more than one clip you can merge them by group selecting and pressing M). Once you have the midi arrangement active , you can choose to save the pattern. Save it somewhere on your hard disc. Now import a midi file into Sonar, at the section where you can choose filetype you can change the file type from Midi to Ptn. This allows you to import your midi arrangement into Sonar. Only major problem is if you used P5s arpeggiator. If you have any tracks using this , you would need to use some form of midi loop to record the midi back into your computer. Otherwise you can bounce your track to audio and import it that way.

    Mack,

In the same boat and I created some really nice stuff - both audio and Midi - love the P5 Groove Matrix. Able to build parts of my song ... went crazy ... multiple parts ... depth ... and then came time to try and move it to Sonar. Utoh!!!!!!

As stated above you can import but the more complicated the more of a headache to move it. I am really hoping that integration to Sonar is in the works. As far as I am concerned, P5 is a nice workflow front end tool for Sonar.

The lack of integration is rather baffling? I would really expect an Export to Sonar, Drag n Drop or the grand prize: Running P5 in Sonar as a VST which would be incredible. Don't think there is anyone that is all too excited about Rewire and that will not really get the job done either.
