Maybe it's Me

Hi again everybody ,

Just wanted some opinions on this track. It's a first draft that I just made today, so....but I think it's coming out ok so far.

    You've had a productive day.

It's probably that it's a 1st draft, but I found that 1st section's repetition too long. Maybe some instrument changes, or counter melody, or dynamic change, or dropping most instruments and rebuilding etc. could come in sooner. But this could just be a genre thing and the repitition is probably acceptable/normal in this genre.

You've got a great start here.

    Good dance groove.

Hey Sandman - nice, I pretty sure this one you're going to nail down! It has, like fep said, a wonderful groovy-dancy style to it. I like the synths you've chosen and I think the mix is pretty good as it is already.
I personally don't mind the repetition too much. I like how you trust your style and stick to it. It's very important, I find. Whenever I hear a song of yours I feel the tickle between my fingers - telling me, one day I shall come up with an Electronica tune myself ...
    Thanks for sharing!

    Exeptionally crafted pop.
Just get Maddona to sing on this and you've got a hit.
I'm not even going to mention any minor gripe i may have with this.

Very enjoyable Sandman, I liked that a lot. I was jamming along with it as I had the guitar to hand, and I really got into it!

Hi fep. Thanks. As I live with the song more, I am starting to feel it is repetative (obviously ) and maybe too simplistic. But I was into the groove and I let it ride. I'll keep working on it and see what I can do to keep the groove, but not be so repetitive (though repetitive is part of the style).

Hi airmeki. Thanks a lot. I do hope you start doing some electronica. That would be cool. But, be warned, though a lot of sounds really easy, it's harder than it seems. But, it is a fun challenge, and I'm sure you can do it. Can't wait to hear something in that style from you. In fact, it probably would be fun if everyone here tried to do a song that is very different than what they usually make.

Wow, opaque slogan. Thanks a lot. I've read some of your other reviews, so I know you express how you really see things. That makes me appreciate your comments on my tune even more. Thanks! Now where did I leave Madge's number.....

Nice little groove just crying out for vocals and an instrumental lead or two. Being a dance tune, there's no problem with it being long. Keep 'em on their feet.

    sandman,

Nice catchy tune. I like the l-r stereo bounce, tones complement each other well. Great depth and instrument separation in the mix. The song has a sense of optimism and growth about it. I am seeing an image of a few people doing something, some people gathering around watching, a few of them join in, then a few more, pretty soon a whole bunch of people are in sync and working together towards some common goal. lol .. I hope that's not too abstract .. this is a great tune, congratulations.

It sounds like up to date back in the day "80's"... if you know what I mean. All kinds of melodies began to float around in my mind as I listened. Excellent beginnings... Thanks for sharing. I really like where this is going.

Thanks for checking it out mcourter. I'm working on some vocal things.

Hi chasekh. I agree, it does repeat, a lot . That is part of the style, but even so, I don't like to be as repetitive as other songs. One of the hardest parts for me when I started making music in this style was figuring out how to be repetitive (or keep the groove), yet interesting. I'm still working on that. The best songs in this style are able to do it. Thanks for listening.

Wow, thanks a lot Bill. I appreciate that. Especially coming from an awesome music creator like you.

Hi JCEE. I do know what you mean by 'new 80's'. I appreciate your thought on it too. Lot's of melodies popping in your head huh?.......
