recording instruments

i do not own project 5 yet but i am considering it, i just have a question, if i want to record like a guitar or something how do i plug it in to my computer?

    Any number of ways. You can get a DI box and plug into that and then feed the output of the DI box to your computer. You can use a guitar interface , like Guitarport (from line6). You can use a POD and take the output of your pod to your computer (I believe it works via USB nowadays). You can do the standard way of using a microphone and sitting it in from of the acoustic guitar or the amp if its an electric guitar. You could use an audio interace with a guitar input (like the M-Audio Firewire Solo).

    There are probably quite a few I have missed out.

    Welcome to the forum.
    Recording guitars into p5 is no problem, I use a Line 6 Toneport. One USB cable and your up and running, easy peasy. It also takes bass and vocals. As syrath said there are loads of other bits of kit out there for just such a purpose, though I’ve got no experience using them.
