SOLO 610 as DI

i want to find out how to use the SOLO 610 as DI and using the THRU with a guitar/bass amp.
so the guitar plugs in to the DI port. the question is do i connect the thru to the input of the amp, or to the line in/line out of the amp?

just curious......

if u can iluustrate it, the better.

appreciate it.

The thru to the amp should be fine. Or you could use something like a Morley ABY to split and add a little buffer to the signal. Do you have another 610 to mic the amp?

actually i don't right now. but i'm planning to get another one.
the only reason i want to do it this way it's because i want to take advantage of the solo 610 as a DI plus i want to get the sound of the amp head. So i just want to find out how the signal chain would be:
so looks like it's going to be--- guitar->DI of solo610; thru ->input of amp head right?
but how do i conect to the mixer/firewire interface? in this case a firebox for example, do i do it from the solo 610's XLR output or do i do it from the line out of the amp--->inout of mixer /firewire interface???

i hope i have not confused everyone...

    thanks. i'll appreciate any suggestion.

When you connect the xlr out of the 610 to the rear line in of the firebox (XLR x TRS cable) you will get a plain clean but nicely preamped guitar signal. Good for bass or for using amp plug-ins like Guitar Rig or Amplitube, etc.

The thru jack will split the signal in front of the 610 so you can send it to another amp/preamp. Thru does not run through the 610. It only goes in the di jack and straight out the through.

From your amp line out you could do three different routes.

    1. Line out of amp straight into Firebox line in. (the amp preamped it enough)
    2. Line out of amp to Firebox xlr mic pre input.
    3. Line out of amp into 610 to either firebox input

Try them all and see what sounds good. The only thing you could do terribly wrong is patching the amp speaker out into a preamp. Or, by operating an amp that needs a speaker load, without one.

WOW! I never knew there are a lot of possibilities hooking up preamp/DI to get good sounds. I will definitely give these a try.

Thanks you very much for the info.
