Is there a Bass modeler/simulator?

Sorry for such a lame first question. But can I use my guitar to simulate a realistic sounding electric bass with either guitartracks or home studio? I have not bought the software yet but will end up getting the line6 guitar port but can't swing the bass as I just bought an engagement ring that I'll be paying until I'm 80. Thanks in advance, N.

You could run the guitar through Guitar Synth and then once it's midi, pump it into Trilogy - which is THE absolute best bass sampler.

But it would definitely be much cheaper to buy a 2nd hand bass.

Well, there is a few included DXi's which can be made to sound like basses of the acoustic, electric, and synth type. They won't sound too flash but they'll go a little way.

Good luck on the engagement! May that investment far exceed getting a bass.

I "second" that. You can get a functional used bass for $150. Check your music store, and eBay.

The XL version of Home Studio includes quite a few bass guitar sounds that are not included in the standard or older versions of Home Studio. A quick look in the Dreamstation folder shows about 30-40 bass models.

The Dreamstation basses would be synth basses. They aren't gonna sound like a real bass.

Awesome! Thanks guys. Basically all I need is something easy to use, good and easy to make drum sounds, and the best guitar amp sounds. Trying to shoot for something in the vein of Filter without having to buy external DIs, mixers etc. It sounds like Guitar Tracks Pro is the way to go. I'm getting a bass too. So would you say I'm good to go or would there be anything else I should look at? Also, does GTPRO have any string/piano/synth sounds? I'm still going over the site so thanks again. Nick.
