Audio Technica AT4033 shockmount

Hi:

Would anyone know where I can purchase a replacement shock mount for my (now discontinued) AT 4033? The rubberbands have long since broken.

If I can't find an exact replacement, is there one that I can retrofit?

Thanks for your help....

Maybe you could find some band replacements. Maybe something like a vacuum cleaner belt would do. Just an idea.

LOL ! That would hold a very heavy mic. A vacuum cleaner belt would be too large and heavy but I'm thinking those things girls use to hold their hair back in a pony tail might. They come with or without the cinch, I like the ones without that are a smooth circle. I use them to keep cables because they are easy to get on and off compared to rubber bands. They are kinda like a section of hose leg rolled up into a band. The ones with the metal cinch will nick the cables.

You might also check the hardware store, some of the Delta faucet washers are fairly large and might work. I made a custom shock mount from them once using a towel hoop and wire ties, and a some other size rubber O rings. They worked great.

About a year ago I called AT (here in the US) and asked about replacement bands for my 4033 shockmounts. I have 3.

Well, they sent me about 10 of them at no charge!

    +1 for AT!!!!!!

I just had them send a couple sets of bands for my 4050's, one of which just broke a band on the shockmount. Same experience...one quick call, and they sent out the bands free of charge. I had them within 2 or 3 days. Excellent service...almost makes up for the strange, fear inspiring design of the shock mount .

Oh, that said, call them, don't email. I got a real person within a minute's time, but it took a couple days for them to respond to email. Though they did respond, and via telephone. AT rocks.

I was thinking of my hand-held Dirt Devil vacuum. That belt is not so thick, but it still may be too heavy for the shockmount.

Any C12 mount should work, you will need that dual clamp type since there are no threads at the base of the mic. Here is an e-bay auction for one for $88 auction number..
