Psyn vs z3ta - different?

The two look somewhat similar (though so do Rapture and Dim Pro). I have Psyn and the web songs on z3ta sound similar.

What are the differences? Thanks

Sonica Dual Core 3.4 GHz, 2GB Ram, 3HDs, UAD1, PoCo Firewire, DIGI 9652, D8B, vintage synths, guitars and more money than talent (though questionable how much of either). XP Home SP2. SPE6.2. Other things of variable interest.

    The main differences are:

    - z3ta+'s modulation matrix. PSYN's modulations are somewhat limited - there are plenty of envelopes and LFO's, but the destinations are only a few. In contrast, z3ta+ has tons of modulation sources and destinations which you can route any way you like. Modulations are the key to interesting sounds.

    - z3ta+ has a ton of waveforms while PSYN only has a few (like 6 or so).

    - z3ta+ as a pretty cool waveshaper which lets you tweak the waveforms even further.

    - z3ta+ has an arpeggiator.

    - z3ta+ has many more LFO waveforms than PSYN, and they can be combined in several ways.

    - z3ta+ has more and better effects than PSYN2.

    - z3ta+ has a huge library of sounds, and many more can be downloaded (e.g., the Virus mod), whereas there are practically no 3rd party presets for PSYN.

    - z3ta+ also uses much more CPU than PSYN (because of all the extra features), so it sometimes makes sense to use PSYN instead of z3ta+.

Lots of gear. Not enough time.

fac did a great job listing the diffs. I can tell you that you get MUCH more creative and expressive possibilities with z3ta - especially in the context of evolving patches.

I'd suggest taking advantage of the DEMO. There's nothing like hearing it for yourself to help you decide if it's for you. Free demo on left side of http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/Z3TA/Default.asp

    Good luck.
