Mid-Eastern Vibe

This consists mostly of a groove with a lot of percussion and oud samples.

Kara's Dance

Dance to it it if you will, and please let me know your take on it.

    Marko,

Nice clear mix, especially in the high end, smooth. Evocative instrumentation, percussion sounds real. Tambourine might be a touch loud, maybe, hard to say. Really like the violin-like sounds. Nice change up of instrumentation throughout. Fine arrangement. Tabla towards the end is especially nice and supportive. Very good job on this!

Man, that was great!! Marko, I think you hit a musical jackpot here! I always adored the arabic influence in music. I think it is sexy and way too overlooked in the western world.
I didn't quite dance in my studio here, but man, I was close to ... (after a few water pipes, mabye - just kiddin').
    Thanks for sharing this marvel.

    Hey Marko,
this sounds great, the instrumentation is cool and this has a fantastic atmosphere to it but i've got to say it confused the hell out of me, timing wise, and as hard as i tried i just couldn't count it. What timing is this in?

    Marko,
    Excellent!

I can't believe how well you've keyed in those Oud parts; remarkable.

Great feel for the Middle Eastern melody line, wonderful hooks and twist.

    Very nice!

Stunning! I really enjoyed this. Amazing clarity in the mix and everything seemed well placed with good levels. The composition is awesome... I love the odd time signatures throughout the piece.

    Exceptional work Marko!

Thanks Bill. The tambourine is from a different set of samples than the rest of the sounds. I should pull it back a bit.

Thanks Kenny. The oud samples are from RA. Most of the sounds are from RA.

Thanks Heinz. Glad you dig this.

Thanks opaque slogan. It's 7/8 time throughout with a few tempo changes.

Thanks Ed. I don't play oud, but I've listened to Anouar Brahem recordings and perhaps I've picked up some ideas from him.

    Thanks Barry. It's samples only.

    Thank you Michael.

Hi Marko, nice and different. There is a similar raga in Indian music also!I felt the tabla could have been tuned to the pitch of the melody (tonic or 5th).Thanks for the music.

    Marko,
    hey thanks,
I've wanted to get some ethno sounds in my pallet , been looking around to see whats out there ...was looking at the Ethno ..by Motu in catalogs ..havn't heard it same with the one you used here ....now I have heard the RA
That RA World instrument set sounds great.
of course the way you compose has something to do with it also,
    I've always enjoyed your work.
    keep it up
    Kenny

Thanks chasekh. I never even thought about about tuning the tabla as you suggested. I'll keep that in mind because I'm sure it will help me in keeping the groove when I'm laying down a sequence.

    Thanks again Kenny.
RA is an inspiring library. I use RA in Kontakt2 (in stand alone mode) and Home Studio doing the sequencing, but I think RA works as a plug-in as well as other options.

    Thanks marcos.

I didn't do much in terms of effects processing. I just added a little verb. I might add a little more. Except for the tambourine which is from another library, the other samples sit well with one another.

    Gee, thanks Simon.

Pretty convincing. I like the way the mix lays too. There's one part I question. I don't know what that instrument is between 1:01 and 1:13, but it seems a little off key to me. Of course, with Indian music, who can tell?

    Thanks coldsteal2.

Thanks Joe. That sound is a sample of an instrument called a 'yali tambur'. It's a Turkish instrument. It is a stringed and is played with a bow or it is plucked. I think I used all bowed samples.
