Drum Map Manager

There are hundreds of drum patterns included with Sonar thru the drum map manager but it seems you have to go thru a lot of steps to hear them. It would be nice if there was a way to audition them quickly like you can with loop explorer or Session Drummer 2. Or is there and I just haven't found it?

The drum map manager (AKAIK) is for mapping midi ins and outs to create drum sets that are not mapped to any particular standard, or to combine various midi instruments by mapping to different instruments to create a drum set.
It is not an audio device, nor does it include midi loops. It is just a mapping device.

My question is.How do you command it to work with your Vsti/soft synths etc.I never use it and id try it if i knew how.Its probably explained in the tutorials i know.Id assume you just pull it up when you have something to trigger the sounds and it just displays the different patterns right?

It does not display patterns. It only allows you to reassign midi note number inputs and midi outputs so tat you may create different drum sets.
For instance, I have a Yamaha SY35, and it has a drum patch that does not correspond to general midi. So, rather than edit the midi drum track to fit where my drum sounds are (note #'s) - I create a drum map that reroutes the incoming notes to the notes I use.
Further, you can also combine midi outs, so that if I really hate every cymabal I own except for the cymbals on my soundcard's synth, I can map all cymbals to that synth.
There is a section of the manual dedicated to drum maps.
