ampeg_depth

I've been translating a few sample sets into SFZ using the free version of chicken systems' translator but it consistently produces the opcode ampeg_depth which Dim Pro says is invalid. Anyone know what this opcode should be? The translator also produces ampeg_sustain opcodes (although not always with what I'd consider to be a sensible operand)

    Unlike the other EG types and the LFOs, I don't believe that there ever was an ampeg_depth opcode, Peter. I could be wrong here. Ampeg_sustain is a level parameter. 0-100% until Note Off.

    Flipping through the Cakewalk Synths book, I did not see an ampeg_depth opcode, however, for ampeg_sustain, possible value range = 0 to 100%.

    I'm sure someone else with greater knowledge will chime in

    Thanks guys, that's also my understanding of the situation. At first I thought Chicken Systems had got it wrong and used ampeg_depth instead of ampeg_sustain by mistake. However, their translations also insert an ampeg_sustain value - but I'm not sure that their values are always sensible. Why would a bass guitar sample translate as?

    ampeg_sustain=7.8740157480315
    ampeg_depth=127

    Very strange!

    I have Translator Pro, the fully featured commercial version, and it does SFZ conversions fine on my PC. Maybe it's just the free version? I would email Chicken Systems though, just so they're aware of the problem.

    What the frig is this? I nick off backstage for a bit and come out to find some “other” Aussie talkin' sfz… and… he's got an alligator as an avatar! What's crazier is the user name “pjl” which is eerily similar to “pljones”, an old sfz-Geek from KVR who never made the jump to Dim/Rap/RXP/DZ et al 'cause of the price increase (i.e. >$0)

    I'm looking your way Tom… care to explain?!

    And, yes, ampeg_depth is another secret that you've all been keeping from me…

    You've got watch the show intently, or you miss key parts of the plotline. First, 'gators, then I hear rumours about tempo-sync'ed EGs. And what's all this about automated .sfz conversions? I don't know what this world is coming to ...

    Sorry, case of mistaken identity. The name is Peter and I also hail from Melbourne. Many folk down these parts give me a serve for the alligator and ask why we aren't using a crocodile. The reason is that I took that photo on the bayou south of New Orleans a couple of years ago and I really liked the look on that gator's face so it stuck.

    Cheers,
    Peter

    P.S. I thought Dim Pro was a steal at the price (But don't tell Cakewalk or René I said that).

    Sorry, it's sacrilege I know but I bought a few Giga Sampler CDs at a sale recently and I was looking for a non-labour intensive way to get them into a sensible format .

    I'm so glad that you had a sense of humor (humour?) about this, Peter. The last thing that I want to do is spark another "input quantize"-type of debate. If I had half a brain, I'd be using something like ESC instead of constructing host projects for "resampling". Tools are meant to be used.

    Woah. Things have gotten bad around here! You know those things called hosts? You can make music with them you know? As for the missed episodes, you got a link so I can download them off BitTorrent of something? Isn't that how it's done now? As for the rumor mill… hmm, not quite.

    Welcome Peter, glad you're working sfz for what it's worth. What suburb of Melbourne are you in? I'm in Caulfield South…

    I'd say I'm about 3-4 km south-east of you.
