Marching To Battle Updated
Hi Everybody- I made a bunch of improvements based on feedback from you all ---- I wasn't sure if I was supposed to update the original thread or start a new one so I started a new one Please give it a listen. PS Wish me Luck, my lovely wife and I are going into the hospital early early tomorrow morning for a planned C-Section (our fourth, and FINAL child! Yea!) BTW Yes, it is Valentine's Day--just dumb luck The hospital didn't have free broadband the last time we were there but I will check the forum first chance I get. Dan

Hey Dan, congratulations! You must be on Cloud Nine . Now then.... a baby girl, surname 'Miller' - you got to call her 'Dusty'! Great job on the track, you've really put some work there, that breakdown is just right, I like the sound effects over it. Nice use of subtle flanger on the guitars too. James

Hey Dan, CONGRATULATIONS on your new daughter! Four children, you are a brave man. Nice tune Dan. One thing that I would recommend would be to bring up the volume on the crashes and add a little more sustain on them. The song has a good drive to it and the guitar sounds great. More emphasis on the crashes would highlight and accent the guitar better I think. Good stuff Dan.

Thanks James for your comments- you caught me a little off guard there though, I had to google "Dusty Miller". Most of the links referenced a type of ground cover or shrubbery which looks familiar but I have never heard the name of before. Pretty stuff, it would look good in my yard along the fences, and would be appropriate (I already planted a Hawthorne Tree since I live on Hawthorne St- its doing great- grew it from a 10 inch twig and it's over ten feet tall now) And, after all, we are the Millers! Drumz, thanks for your comments. I thought the exact same thing about those cymbals in TTS-1 and I couldn't get them to do much of anything. I am glad you keyed in on that. I have a CD of real sampled drum hits, I bet I can find something in there to substitute the midi stuff. I also wanted a real "gong" sound to introduce the break towards the end of the song, maybe I'll get lucky there too. Opaque (or Nick?) thanks for listening!

Sorry Dan that was just my idea of a little joke, I didn't know about the plant reference -there's a traditional song which goes ''Hey the Dusty Miller, and his dusty coat'' So, it's completely inappropriate for your little girl really!

James, that's cool about the song....now that I've heard of it, it'll probably turn up in a movie, or I'll catch a reference in a Bruce Dickinson song or something BTW, we named her Emma Caroline ToneCarver, thanks for listening. It's good to know I can still come up with something that can be called "smokin" now that I'm such a family man and all
