Alesis Firewire mixer

I have been using the MultiMix 8 for a few months now and recently downloaded the last firmware update. Now I get the blue screen of death when using my PCMCIA card with firewire connection. If I use the laptops small, 4 pin connecter I still get the old unstable connection that has plaged those of us that use the multimix and a laptop. My setup works fine with my desktop computer but the settings that work for the desktop dont work at all on the laptop.

HP laptop p4 3.2G with 2MB ram.
