110 More Presets for Rapture 1.1

I already mentioned this in the Top: thread, but ... Here's a bank of 110 Rapture 1.1 presets (or so) available for free use.
Download - 00 Relative 110

These presets make extensive use of the Rapture 1.1 update features, and the content found in the XP-1 / XP-2 Expansion Packs.
Rapture 1.1 update and Combined Expansion Pack Download

No one actually reads ReadMe files. The following is as close as it gets.
1). Extract the .zip file to your Programs folder in Rapture. With a 'Vista-ready' setup for WinXP, that path would be similar to ---C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs---. A '00 - Relative 110' subfolder will be created, containing the new presets. Press F5 to refresh the Program Browser.

2). My aim here was for a variety pack with some balance. Simple-complex; narrow-broad application; just fun - practical; sequences - leads - basses - pads - atmospheres/special FX. Labeling as such can set up a predisposition for the end usage, so there are no defined categories in this set. Explore note ranges, and single line or chordal phrasing.

3). Most presets employ channel aftertouch and mod wheel for Element mixing and variations. A few make specific use of pitch bend or CC#2. Some use no external MIDI control at all. These MIDI messages are not strictly required, but needed for fully exploring the patch programming nuances.

4). These presets are intended to push the 1.1 features; they're fully loaded and yet somewhat modular. To customize, change Element polyphony, or use the included MIDI control. To conserve resources, disable one or more Elements/internal FX, or simply be aware of large note counts versus long-releasing envelopes.

5). Many of the presets are 'showcase' patches; they make full use of both horizontal (soundstage) and vertical (spectrum) space. To blend in an overall mix, some narrowing of either direction might be needed.

6). These presets develop over time. Many continue to mutate with longer and longer held notes. In every case, playing techniques will alter the final sound results (including variable note lengths).

7). Play.

geez, Tom, I think I'm still waiting for the micropiano to stop blooming. I think you'll have a hit w/ some people w/ that one (you know who you are). Alien piano that almost never ends. Some very digestible (and nondigestible!) sounds in hear - or should I say ear.

Very nice work, there, taking advantage of Rapt's new tricks.

    Thanks!

Because of goddamned microsoft and windows Vista. It won't let you write files into the program files directory.

It has the added advantage of protecting your settings should someone try to mess about with them. Since a separate set of settings gets set up for every user. So if, for example, someone uses WDM for Project5, and another uses ASIO , it saves this info in their own individual *.ini file and prevents someone else overwriting your own settings.

It also prevents viruses from doing the same thing without your knowledge I believe.

Like there isn't enough Vista debate thread variations at the Sonar forum. I'm not exactly thrilled about Vista myself, but I do want my applications compatible before I reach the (inevitable) event horizon. I'm looking at Vista now as a rip current: If you fight it, it'll just drag you under and out to sea. I'm going to ride with it until I figure out a way to swim parallel to the shore and escape.

AT: Thanks. The Piano MicroBlooms preset is one of many that can get away from you (if you let it). I made a lot of these ride the edge of out-of-control because ... well, because I could. Livin' on the edge, but I did balance that out with the other presets.

Second Sight: Welcome to the forum. I went to your web site. Nice setup. I did d/l the Rapture presets; I haven't gotten to them yet. I got a look at the tutorials, though. I wonder if you'd mind if I placed or linked them at the Rapture section at our Project5 Wiki?

It's very understandable if you'd rather that they were just linked (or maybe not at all). I'm trying to also put together a central depot (again ) of user-supplied presets. Not really a polished site as yet, but just a consolidated spot to download for now. Let me know if you're up for a slot of any size.

Hmm. No one found the Easter Egg yet?

Thank You! The sounds are great. Great job. I also downloaded the blue sounds and am excited to go throught the tutorial later.

I'm dying to hear your music, but it's not allowing me to play your tracks.

Reminder for mac people - after you add the bank, throw away the 'programs.1st' file or it won't see the new sounds. At least that's what I have to do.

Anybody have any idea where my Program file went? I can find DP's very easily, my Rapture's file must have been moved or something during the update. I have used the search in Window's Explorer to no avail as well. Could I have accidentally deleted it?

Do you mean the Programs folder? If so, it has a new location in Rapture 1.1, under \Documents and Settings\All Users\Cakewalk\Rapture (Windows XP), or \ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture (Windows Vista). For the full-and-uncensored information on it,

1- Click on the Windows Start button.
2- Navigate to Programs... Cakewalk... Rapture
3- Click on the 'Release Notes' icon
4- Scroll down to 'Technical Notes', there you'll see the 'New Folder Structure' paragraph.

To access to that folder directly from Rapture (the folder is hidden in a Windows XP/Vista default installation), just click on the 'Browse Programs' option in the Rapture's Program menu (the first icon in the top toolbar).
