If I am not wrong, edirol should have its asio driver ... isn't it?

yes is compatible with asio 2.0, but i've heard that asio4all are even better, is it right? i'm looking for a lower latency than WDM

Well, I use M-Audio 410. My understanding is that Asio4all hosts the driver you already have. I had a problem sometimes ago and I was advised on this forum to explore Asio4all. Well I did and it solved I have since been using it along with my m-audio diver. This may well be a replicable experience.

asio4all wraps mme drivers if i am not mistaken. asio4all is a better alternative than most built in soundcards native drivers, but probably is not a better choice than the fa66's asio driver.

ASIO4ALL requires a WDM driver (at least according to the FAQ). Tried it a few years back, stuck with the mfg supplied drivers for my M-Audio setup. The results of driver selection and config varies from machine to machine and is very difficult to predict. No harm in trying ASIO4ALL, it installs and uninstalls very easily.

edirol (Roland) work very closely with Cakewalk. I'd be surprised if wrapping their WDM driver with ASIO4ALL would work better than edirol's own driver. But go ahead nothing to lose by trying it out.

so i have to choose the asio driver from the audio options and try to set a lower latency than now??

    Correct,

so, you can try both WDM (and you have the slider in audio options) or you can try Asio (then you get a button for asio settings).

the edirol drivers (fa-66/101) are ok, latency can be set real low...
if there's an audible delay/latency.. you might check your plugins.. I dont really see the need to switch to other drivers..

Aware of that this is an old thread - but nevertheless...
Actually - you are welcome to feel surprised. I have a Edirol FA-101 in my possession since a year or two back. With their drivers for W7/64 I have gotten down to perhaps 4ms, with some pops/cracks when "heavy" projects of about 15-20 audio tracks are running. Thought I should just try out ASIO4ALL "just for fun". Never thought it would outperform Edirols own drivers, but still did. Went down to 64 samples (below 2ms), running the very same project of 15-20 audiotracks, threw on 10 instances of altiverb, some guitar amps, multicascaderecording myself with trilian, Superior drummer and some Kontakt-Clavinet. Then voice on top. Never a glitch. Smooth as a bottom.

Still have to try it out further. Can't believe it yet, so it COULD be wrong further down the line...
