Help -Akai MPD16 Windows Vista Sonar

When I try to select the MPD in Sonar Midi Devices it blue screens and reboots my PC.

I've downloaded the latest driver from Akai - Vista says the driver is up to date and won't let me try the new driver.

Any help or suggestions

Well, all i can say in my experience is that the mpd drivers have always been aweful. I would reccomend getting a small MIDI interface by Edirol (their Vista drivers have been evry stable for me) and hook up the MPD via MIDI.

Agreed. The USB drivers are crap and will BSOD SONAR at least once or twice per session. Switch to the midi out and a power supply and it will be good.

I will 'third' that. Even the latest Akai drivers are seriously awful. Use MIDI and an external PSU. Make sure the polarity of the PSU is the right way round, I think from memory the Akai has a slightly unusual choice of centre pin polarity - I remember the PSU I scrounged from my spare part pile needed the leads reversed, anyway, do check carefully.

PS: I posted here recently about a simple mod to improve pad sensitivity on these things. Having done that a fortnight ago I truly love this gadget now after it sat gathering dust for a couple of years......
