most recent SONAR which runs on Pentium 3

What is the most recent version of SONAR which still runs on a Pentium 3? (home, producer, studio - doesnt matter)

Last time I used my 1 gig PIII 1 gig (This computer) as a DAW I was running Sonar 3.xx and it worked fairly well using an Echo Layla 24/96 as my soundcard. Once I upgraded to a PIV 3.2 gig (My present DAW) It sure ran a lot better. and now Sonar 6.2.1 is pushing the limits of that box using the 64 bit double precision engine in a 32 bit system. BUt that is still a viable set for now.

Can I tweak Sonar 6 so it uses 32 bit precision. That fine for me you know.

harvey, did you know that you dont need to process your audio using the 64bit engine to seek the benefits, just make sure you check it in the mixdown and then it will process everything in the 64bit engine. youll save some CPU doing it this way

AFIK all our versions of SONAR will run on a P3. Its not a configuration that gets a lot of testing these days though, so you might want to download the latest SONAR 6 demo and try it out for yourself.

I ran 5 on a P3 a while ago, and I can tell you this, you should make sure you use a decicated XP install for audio only, and on that install, turn off everything you dont need in your system services. Try to also have at least a gig of ram (I think you'll prob need four 256 sticks if it's an old MB - and that will be the max you can have). Either way, doing the right tweaking in XP, and keeping all audio on a dedicated install worked really good concidering, on my machine which was a 800MHz P 3 belive it or not.

    For Sonar 6 cakewalk.com says:
    Intel® Pentium® 4 1.3 GHz

    @ Ognis
I got a P3 at 800 MHz too. But what about virtual instruments?
