What is the best way to delete MC6, Sonar X1, X2 and X3?
I would like to free up some hard drive space...I realize I would have to do a custom install to restore things lost...If I miss them. V-vocal and R-Mix. Should I use Windows un-install or manually delete items?

If you run the uninstall programs then you would need to re-install X2 to get V-Vocal and R-Mix. Instead, if you don't mind leaving the installer data in the registry, you can manually delete the programs. This will leave V-Vocal, R-Mix and all the other plug-ins untouched. Assuming X1 through X3 are 64bit producer versions and all the files are in the default locations, the folders to remove are C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X2 Producer C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X3 Producer C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Music Creator 6 C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Shared* (there are several 32bit folders, all used by MC6 and or 32bit SONAR) C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Music Creator 6 C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR X2 Producer C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR X3 Producer C:\Cakewalk Content\Music Creator 6 C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X1 Producer C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X2 Producer C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X3 Producer There are also version specific folders in your user directory in AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk Finally there are registry entries for each version in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer Here is where I have to guess a little, Music Creator has similar registry entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software I believe there will be a "Cakewalk Music Creator\6.0" in each path

All 64 bit, Thanks scook. I'll look into it.

Strange. I did use uninstall programs, but I didn't lose any plugins. How could that happen?

Are you saying V-Vocal and R-Mix were retained after removing the program that installed them?

That is a surprising result. I would expect you still need to perform a little clean up in your user directory, the registry and maybe Cakewalk Content.

V-vocal seems to be gone. Sonar crashes when I try to insert it. It's still in the list? It should be gone. Strange. R-Mix works. Good time to try out my new Paragon 15 backup. I believe I'll do a restore before I screw things up again. Deleting M6, X1,X2,and X3 only saved 16gb anyway.

Okay, I decided to do another backup before trying a restore. Now I should have a before and after version of my OS. Questions I have are...(while waiting for 2 hours for the backup to complete). 1. Why is V-vocal still in the Region FX list? And why does it's absence cause Sonar to crash? 2. Why is R-mix still there? Why does it work? Is it because I have custom folders for my Vsts? 3. Why does deleting four Cakewalk daws only save 16gb? This makes me think something went wrong to begin with. 4. Would re-installing Platinum get rid of V-vocal and R-mix?...or maybe a reset, rescan?

1. It could be the V-Vocal registry entry is still there. The uninstall process does not clean up the registry. 2. IDK. If R-Mix was moved from the original installation path, the uninstaller would not know about it. 3. 16GB seems like a lot of free disk space. Here is a thread which breaks down the savings removing one of X series http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=3179132 (I don't remember if I was looking at X2 or X3 but they are similar) 4. re-installing Platinum would have no effect on plug-ins not bundled with it. A VST reset would only affect R-Mix because V-Vocal is a DirectX plug-in.

Do you use the Command Center to install Platinum?

Yes. I use the Command Center. I'm thinking I just need to remove V-Vocal from the registry, but I'm trying to learn a few things along the way. My new version of Paragon 15 home for one. I almost did the restore and then thought better of it (I'm reading up on it now). It seems removing MC6, X1,X2 and X3 are probably not worth the trouble anyway.

Do you removed the installers from the Command Center download cache or have the download cache on a different drive? The installers can consume a lot of space.

hmmm. Good question. I haven't removed anything from CCC. I just used windows un-install and then went into C:/programs and did a little manual cleanup. I'm restoring my system now. When it's finished I'll check into the installers. They are probably all there. I now think other things should go before my versions of Sonar anyway. I have tutorials, loops and my entire Sample tank 2.5 stuff. I don't use any of that. I'm not in dire need yet anyway. I have about half of my 500 gigs left on my OS drive.

Okay, everything back like before. Live and learn. Paragon 15 works well.

clintmartinWhat is the best way to delete MC6, Sonar X1, X2 and X3? This is funny because I just recently re-installed X1 and X2 on my machine for nostalgic purposes and to look back and see just how bad X1 sucked, or to re-experience how buggy and crashy X2a was. So I have X1d Pro Expanded, X2a Pro, X3e Pro, and Platinum on my machine. I guess I could also install X1 Studio, where it all began, as well! Demented, I know.
