Fired up Sonar X2 after using Cubase 7 for 3 months.

Oh for heavens sake! Do not stir up the shee.... er, natives.  No actual indication of possible problems or suggestion of a more stable platform is welcome here.  As seriously as I've bought into Cake for the last 10 plus years, I should be the biggest cheerleader. Sonar is a tool... nothing more, nothing less.  It is a flawed tool, but then I am aware of no perfect DAW. If something works for you, then that is the best choice.  I have learned one very valuable (and expensive) lesson here.  I was a very early adopter of the V-Studio 700 system, spending over $4k to get on board. I will never again buy a expensive product that is tied to one software product.  The Cakewalk company that existed when I bought into the "baker lore" is long gone, a victim of time, circumstances, corporate buyouts, and bottom line financial goals.
 Long gone are the days when friendly banter and friendship with code writers thrived on this forum.
 Cakewalk (cake/roland) grew up and evolved into a corporate environment, with little room for the free spirits who were the virtual life blood of its existence.  Is this bad?  I guess this depends on your perspective.

Any forum you go to will show folks complaining about issues.  It is the nature of a forum.  The human element of this place with regard to the bakers is gone. If that is a criteria for a successful DAW, it won't be here.  I use Sonar X2A every single day. I also have PT10, and Cubase. I use cake because I know it and it has a logical work flow. It crashes. I know this. That is why I save.  There is no perfect DAW.

+1 what Stevee and Robert said! And I suppose the 486 topics in the issues section of Cubase 7's forum means it runs flawlessly?
 
For the record I own Cubase 7 as well and haven't had any problems with it. But at the same time, I haven't had any problems with Sonar X2 either. A few years back I had Pro Tools 8 crashing every half hour tops, with glitches galore like edits and automation not saving. A quick check of the forum told me that a small percentage of users were suffering the same but the vast majority were not. Software developers can only test their product on a limited amount of configurations and if one's not working for you? Go with what is! Most studios don't just have multiple DAWs purely for compatibility with clients. They also have multiple platforms as a back up, in case one falls over.
 
And on the topic of configurations, the one thing that developers cannot account for is people who may think they know what they're doing (but don't) or perhaps do know what they're doing but make a mistake messing with their registry, running non-standard run time scripts or macros, using cracked software or even having the "infamous" mate of a mate's mate set up stuff for them. Not to mention all the often undetected viruses that tend to find their way onto people's systems who illegally download music/movies. Cakewalk can't possibly account for every variable!
