Firefox 6 breaks forums post editor.
Just a note of caution. The rich text editor of the forum doesn't work with the new Firefox 6 upgrade. So you'd have to post your own html in there in order to get a post to format into anything but plain text on one line... So either the forum software needs updating in order to be compliant with the new browser or Firefox users will have to revert to 3.6 just to post on the forum (or use another browser). The fact that ASP playground states 3.9 is the current version of the forum software and Cakewalk are still using version 3.5 may be the underlying cause of the problem.

OK that's exactly what it was... the update to FF 6.0 So for good measure, I decided to log off totally and restart FF and log back in to the forum to give it a proper test. I have typed this long post without hitting the return to see what it does. so.... here goes.... ready to submit the post. EDIT: results.... in the window I type in I have 4 lines, but I see 2 in the thread...so.... I'm good with that. Double space test here And here and here OK the double space test failed. might have to revert to FF5.0

Guitarhacker Fire fox managed to do it It's hard to say what broke what. The forum uses a non-standard text-editor embedded in it's software, so if the forum software was updated to the latest version maybe the issue wouldn't arise on the latest version of Firefox. So it could be the newer browser is just showing up the non compliance of the old forum software rather than the browser being 'faulty'. Whatever, the net result is one ain't working with the other, we can't change the forum software which means, use another browser, roll-back to an earlier version or refuse the update to version 6 when Firefox offers it.

I actually use KodaChrome. The only draw back is that I must place the strikeout code in the post. Chrome will not do that. To make matters worse, when someone quotes my text in their reply the strikeout is lost. The same thing happens when I reply to myself or edit my own post. IOW Strikeout strikes out in KodaChrome.

In the lappy... this computer, I'm running 5.0.... and I went in and shut off the auto update in FF. I did a system restore on the office machine so I'll see if that worked tomorrow morning. My DAW isn't on line so it doesn't care.

Firefox automatically updated when I went on line. It is behaving badly in the forums. I'm unable to do a hyperlink now and the font is different while I type, but the font looks OK once the message is posted.

If you upgrade Firefox, and it doesn't work on certain sites but the older version of it works fine, Firefox is broken.? But when you upgrade Sonar from a previous version that worked perfectly and it brings down the computer you need to re-install/upgrade your OS and replace your hardware because there's something wrong with your machine? Did you even read this post? http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2367039 The forum is written with Microsoft's proprietory scripting extensions .asp which is notoriously bad for following web-standards compliance on top of the fact this particular board is four point versions out of date! The web has moved on quite a bit since 2009 when this board software was last updated. Firefox have shot themselves in the foot as well by capitulating to the mass stupidity that thinks that the higher the major version number the 'cooler' the software. In reality for the extra features Firefox has over 3.6.* it would be at around 3.7.5 by now using their old update naming conventions. I'm back to version 3.6.2 now just to accommodate this board, which is no big deal as despite the BIG version numbers it is still maintained and pretty much a rollback to the previous point release despite the scary big number drop.
