Firepod annoyances with HomeStudio4

Been having some issues with my new Firepod(s). I will be calling presonus on monday, but wanted to see if anyone else ran into this.

First off, I am running 2 Firepods, daisy chained with upgraded presonus software and drivers AND windows xp sp2 patches, etc etc.

Worked great at a recording session last weekend with Sonar 4, but this weekend, it took a crap on me. I am also using Internal sync on both the Firepods.

After an hour of recording live songs, the Firepods began cycling their sync lights here and there. You would hear the windows "ding-dong" sound almost as if someone was plugging/unplugging the devices! My cpu resources would hit 100%, everything would come to a grinding hault. Very strange.

I checked a few things, and realized that you can run one firepod at 96000 sampling rate, but when daisy chained, maximum you can do is 48000. I also realized that I can record great with one firepod, but once daisy chained, they have a hard time remaining in sync.

Strange how it worked for a few hours, but suddenly became an issue? I then went out and purchased a belkin 3-port firewire card, and it seems to have remained stable.

Just venting...

IF you are using the WDM drivers, switch over to the ASIO. I have used the FirePod without any problems recording on a daily basis and it works great, no crackle or pops. I just don't like the input selections using the ASIO drivers, but I can manage.

    Peace

Yup, using the ASIO drivers. She works great with one pod at 24/96, but keeps losing sync with two pods as 24/41k. Tried reinstalling the drivers, we'll see how it goes.

Does it work with just one ? I wonder if it's the fact you have two of them or if it's a different problem.
