A client just lost a million dollar home. It's one of thise things we know is coming every year. Wildfires have likely been occuring here annually for thousands if not millions of years, yet the speed and destruction is still humbling.

I've got a friend who has spent every spare hour building a cabin in that area over the last couple of years.  He says the fire was about 20 miles away, but that was a couple of days ago and we haven't heard from him since.

FYI - The closest Washington fires are over 235 miles away from Pedro and I with the bulk well over 265 away.  The Oregon fires are much closer (except on the other side of the Columbia River) with the closest being about 75 miles away.

    Hi,

    Good reporting Craig!

Anything from the I-5 corridor to the ocean, generally is safer than the rest of the state in Oregon!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

    Summary:
According to NOAA scientists, the globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for June 2014 was the highest for June since record keeping began in 1880. It also marked the 38th consecutive June and 352nd consecutive month with a global temperature above the 20th century average. The planet has been warmer, it has been cooler.
    The only constant is; change.
So, is global climate change real?
    Always has been.
If you wait long enough it'll get colder, and/or warmer.
Homo Sapiens are a "virus" that has infected the planet.
Give her time, she'll "fix" the problem.
Her "quick fix"; get in front of an asteroid!
That's the geological record anyway, it's all there (the record I mean), if you take the time to study it.

yep, they study thousands and thousands of years of data from ice cores.

they know more than just ambient weather data.

    it's just science, not voodoo.
