Firewire Controllers - No Laptop! Small Desktop?
I would like to build a small, portable system and I need firewire for my RME FF400.
I'd rather have a large laptop (17" or more, 1680x1080 or more, TI firewire chipset, preferrably capable of having 2 SATA2/3 disks), but I did not yet find one.
So I'm thinking of building a small desktop system, with a P67 or H67 chipset.
Now, I also haven't found any m-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards built-in TI firewire. Yet.
My question is: Is it safe to use a TI based Firewire PCI-card in my small desktop?
I ask this, because I learned form many forum threads that for laptops it is not a solution to use an expresscard with TI FW Chipset, because the audiostream passes a non-TI cardbus controller (VIA, RICOH, Jmicron)
So what i want to know is: Does the same problem goes for desktops, when I use a TI FW PCI card?
Do I have to consider what controller the motherboard has to ensure the audiostream is handled correctly?
Or is this handled by the Intel P67 or H67 chipset?
