I don't remember the first single, but the first LP was Black Sabbath, the one that was all black? With some purple writing on the front?

Beagle?
Did you fill in the card every month, or did you end up with things like "The Best Of Helen Reddy" And "The Captain and Tenille - An Introspective"? I kept forgetting and we had to move frequently before the Columbia House detectives came.

yep - I actually did fullfill my membership!!! THAT time! I was 14 in '77, so I couldn't move TOO far without my parents!!!

I bought several albums all at once for the first time through one of those early music club deals. I think I ordered 12 all at once, but I don't remember all of them I bought at the same time, but I do specifically remember these:

Kiss - Destroyer
Yes - Fragile
Yes - Close to the Edge
Alan Parsons Project - Tales of Mystery and Imagination
Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway
Kansas - Point of Know Return
Foreigner - Foreigner
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

and I believe I still have all of them.

It was 1977 when I bought my own first albums - before that I only listened to what my parents had and the radio.

That's how I ended up with "Barry White's Greatest hits" in about 1993.

It's still in it's wrapper.

their (probably) best known song is used by the Australian tourist board these days, well a instrumental version. I thought it was out in 83 or something, but it seems it was 81..

It's tempting to ask the way to Amarillo, but I won't

I think Tommy was my first album, with Bridge over Troubled Water being 2nd. Don't recall the first single, but it was probably something I don't *want* to remember.

1982? It was one of those records that made me realize my personal enjoyment of music could not be constrained to any particular genre.

For Men at Work lovers - this song made a bit of a comeback, recently - was also used in a game, I believe:
