First Sonar Project

I got Sonar X1 and an A500S a month or two ago, and have just now gotten around to setting everything up and started using it. I apologize ahead of time, but my mp3 encoder was locked or something so I mixed it down to wav instead. Sorry if it takes a moment or two to load. The song isn't finished yet, but it gives a good overall picture (or sound if you will). Please feel free to comment.

    Hi,

Very good sounding synth work, with a great beat and a very nicely textured, clean mix!  To me, this sounds like it would go over really well in an all night dance club.

Just a quick posting suggestion.  You will DEFINITELY get a lot more replies to this song post if you put it up on a free account at SoundClick or ReverbNation, because many people on this forum won't click on a direct download link due to possible trojans or virus fears.

Anyway, great work on the song, it sounds really nice, have a good one!

Thanks for the nice comments (and the link trust). For some reason, my soundclick account isn't being recognized. Have they reset anything recently? =)

Welcome to the forum. :)  Really cool stuff here....great beats!

I think if you put the SC link in your first post, more people would be inclined to listen. They may not keep reading and trying every link like I did.  :)

You got some good posting advice.  Aren't these folks great?  Welcome to da board!  I told one of the electronica guys once that this genre just seems to keep me waiting for something else to happen, long lead ins, etc.  He informed me that I wouldn't think that as much if I was dtanding on a dance floor.  He was absolutely right.  Once I heard that I had a greater appreciation.  I always liked the music but now I understand it better.  This really sounded good.  You did a really nice job on it!

Wow this is your first song?  Very nicely done (way better than my first stuff, lol).

    Thoughts...
I really liked the trance lead, helped push the song along
    good use of stereo field
nice use of change-ups to keep the song moving
note, I might do some more work to help with the transitions, drum rolls etc, to help build tension.
also, I wouldn't have minded a bit more kick

    Overall a very nice track.

    It ended real funny though.

    Thanks,

    Mathew

Thanks for the comments guys! And yes, it isn't complete by any means. I'm still working on it and things to come will include:

    1) Instrumental Break
    2) Third Stanza (possibly with alternate intrumentation to counter the first two).
    3) The Ending.
    4) Adding layers for tom, ride and crash fills and transitions.
    5) Fine tuning the percussion with the percussion strip (though it isn't bad now...).
    6) Vocals!

I'll post the final here sometime over the next week or two.

    Cool song and mix.

I like the clavinet-sounding thingy comes in around 1:05 ( and later ).

Looking forward to hearing more of this as it progresses.
