First album you bought?
Which was the first record album you bought for your own money? Mine was King Cobras "Thrill of a lifetime". A hard rock band that had released a previous single that i liked ("Hunger"), so I bought their new record. I remember dissapointment over the lame sound, not as heavy rock as in "Hunger". It's very predictable songs, not at all my cup of tea nowadays. =)

The first album I owned was Moving-Peter, Paul, and Mary. My mom bought it for me after a particularly fun encounter with the military nurses at Fitzsimmons hospital. The first album I bough with my own money was Paranoid-Black Sabbath.

The very first record I had was Hysteria or Born In The USA. I really can't remember which I had first, and I may have gotten both from Mom and Dad at the same time. The very first record I ever bought with my own money was Wildflowers. Btw, just to add.. Born In The USA and Hysteria were cassette. Very shortly thereafter we had CD, and the first cd I got was a birthday present the year it was released!! I will never, ever forget!! Slippery When Wet!!! I was so hyper and off the wall when I saw that present! By that time my father had a whole stack of opera cd's that he had been collecting. I know he had to suck up his snobbery real bad to acquiesce to my Bon Jovi!! Oh, it was so funny...

You must be a bit on the younger side. I played with Dave Henzerling, who went by David Phillip Thomas or some damn name in that band. A bass player I played with auditioned for Carmine Appice for that band also. I went with him to LA for the audition and Peter Criss was at Carmine's house that day. Pretty cool afternoon. Dave toured with King Kobra. They got the support slot for a Kiss tour. Dave said they were getting $35 a day. Carmine was the only one making any money. Carmine was in his late 40's and everyone else in the band was early 20's. Dave went back to school and got an engineering degree. He married a porn star and has a couple of kids now. He's still gigging around Phoenix. My brother saw him 2 weeks ago. And you're right, those albums sucked. Randy

Well I can't remember the first album I actually bought with my own money but I remember the first forty five I bought...it was Sixteen Tons by Ernie Ford. It was a replacement for my aunt Lucy (who was more like my big sister). I'd worn her copy out.
