First bit of loop missing

I was trying to record a loop but every time i recorded it the first bit was missing. It's like the program is taking a second to start recording. If i got before the loop and record from there its fine but interferes with my workflow.

Anyone have this happen?
I am brand new to Sonar as I am coming from Cubase 5 and am still getting used to the differences in recording modes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you're recording live MIDI, you might be hitting the keys before SONAR starts recording, thus no 'note on' event and no note to playback.

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

I tried it several times even waiting into the loop a bit and it still didnt take.

I'm looking to let it keep looping  and put say bass drums in, then snare etc....

I thought it might be the keyboard or something but its fine in Cubase.
I can sometimes see the missing pieces at the VERY end of the looped section.
I would be glad to admit fault but I do this all the time with other programs and my timing is pretty on, or at least i know when its not.......

Also , inside the looped part of the time bar is a section thats darker than the usual background and it seems to correspond with the missing section.
